Required Materials

Below is a list of required and optional materials for my cigar room.

Required materials for my cigar room

Optional materials I made use of

  • Hardwood floors
  • Wall sconces for lighting ($90/each)
  • Glass door ($220)
  • Light switch dimmer ($20)
  • 5 1/4″ in-wall speakers ($100)
  • Speaker volume control ($50)
  • 5′ x 3.5′ tempered safety window to see through to the entertainment room ($200)

A common question I get is how much did the entire cigar room project cost. It’s a hard question to answer because I built the room as part of a larger project which entailed finishing the entire basement. To finish the entire basement, including cigar room, I can tell you I spent less than $10,000. I was able to keep the project fairly economical since I did most all of the labor (with the exception of carpeting and dry wall mudding) and bought all of the materials myself. If you were to just build the cigar room itself without doing the entire basement the cost would be significantly less.

I listed most of my material costs for the cigar room itself above. The only things I didn’t put prices to were the ducting, hardwood floors, dry wall and studs because those are so subjective in price depending what you go with and how much you need. There were of course miscellaneous costs such as screws, electrical boxes, etc, but I figured I would stick to the major stuff.
